Our personal, private welcome committee. These fine Texans and AIDS Ride supporters are (left to right) Tom and John. John was briefly a Bostonian (okay, a Walthamite actually). He's now a man in the oil industry (thoughts of James Dean and Rock Hudson, eh?). They drove out to our campsite in Memorial Park and rescued us from the fire ants (another Southern specialty), took us on a quick tour of Houston including the beer can house. I really like Houston. Then they escorted us out to a Mexican restaurant where I can only clearly remember the margaritas. I think I ate something high fat, like crab, and whatever anybody else couldn't finish. The wait staff were quite, um, helpful. Tom and John live in a "patio home." I enjoy just dropping that term without definition. We got to do laundry and sleep overnight in their patio home, too. Then in the morning we made John get up at about 5 o'clock to drive us back to camp. We do terrible, terrible things like to all of our hosts. We don't think they'd be able to brag to their friends about helping us out if they didn't get some scars for it. We're sorry we didn't get to see the Orange Show while we were in town! Don't you make that mistake when you're in Houston. Here's more information. Houston is rich in unique art. As is all of Texas. Check out somebody else's photos of Houston.
