Texas AIDS Ride from Austin to Houston

On the afternoon of the third day we arrived in Houston where the welcome for the Texas AIDS Ride was...totally invisible. All the many, many miles through Houston's gigantic suburban sprawl to Memorial Park we saw not one single sign, not one individual waving, not one red ribbon. It was as though we were riding into the wrong city. (You could try complaining here). Whole Foods Market did post themselves at one pit stop to give away free fruit sorbet on a stick. That was nice.

Forunately Michael and I had a pre-arranged personal, private welcome.

Nice thing to say: I was really impressed with the density of foliage throughout Houston. The city must have more trees than all the rest of Texas. It wasn't exactly New England, but pretty nice nonetheless. And the traffic was not bad.
